What color am I?

This is short and sweet. What is happening to my beautiful little light brown sheep? When I part her wool, it is gray at the base. Does that mean that she will be turning color right before my eyes? How sad.

They sure do change especially the under coat, that is what we found out when we sheared our sheep when we raised them!

That's the katmoget in her! They are usually darker underneath. Her outer fleece will probably always fade out to the lighter color. Kat's are know for having very nice fleece!

I still think she's a beauty...

How are you feeling? I read stories today about two people who were almost killed in serious car accidents and the struggle of their slow, painful recovery and how it has totally changed their lives. Both are still undergoing medical treatments including surgery, speech therepy, etc. It made me think about how lucky you really were! It's strange how every thing is a matter of perspective...

Glad you're OK!

Nancy's right, sorry I didn't see your blog sooner. What an experience! Very scary, you never know what could happen next. Thank God you made it through that experience. And that's nice grey on your little spotted kat. You're going to love spinning that up!

I like the silver under coat. Part of the joy of having shetlands is the almost never-ending colour change they seem to go through. Your lambs (and sheep) are adorable. How many do you have?

Shula,

I have 5 males; one is a wether. There are six ewes and three lambs. One ram lamb will be gone soon. I am keeping the twins. I guess that will leave me with 6 rams and 7 ewes. I know that is tooooo many rams, but with the small numbers that I have, I can't part with my original big boy and his wether buddy.
