Then there were four......

I just went out to check how everyone was doing this afternoon about 2:00. There she was laying down and pushing. We barely had time enough to round up a few gates so that we could keep her in the lean. Not long after we had her contained, she gave birth to another bull calf. There must be some reason for this. He was quite active after his birth, and right now, she is still licking and trying to dry him. I haven't seen him nurse, yet. I will keep going out there every so often until I have observed him getting some nourishment. Then I will be reasonably sure that he will make it through the night. I guess I will have to get a jacket on him, too, but I don't know when that will happen.

CONGRATS SHARRIE!

Such cute babies! We have another few weeks before we start. I'm always very paranoid about what they should or shouldn't be doing but they typically know best!

If you are in the market for a few more cows...my dad is selling all his going to be yearling heifers on monday at the sale barn...if you wanted some new genetics. Tempting I know.... :)

My goodness, your place is just a calf barn in production. Because I have no real "cow sense", is this a common time of the year for calvings (did I say that one right?) I so want a miniature Jersey cow but so can not afford one:)

Congrats on another successful birth! I'm sort of glad we are not popping out baby goats at the same rate as you are having calves! It would be a bit much for us newbies!

How many cows do you have? Cute calves, I hope they grow well for you! What breed are they? Simmental?

Me too Kristi! The wanting a mini cow...hehehe. Bulls aren't bad either, though! And they're cute to boot! You can always eat them or ship them for money :) Heifers its too hard to eat them unless they're like free martens or something else is wrong with them, and I hate shipping heifers lol.
