Frosting on the Dogs

We are having a period of frozen fog.    The dogs couldn't wait until it cleared today, so we went for our walk in the fog.     We all got frosted.    The dogs looked just adorable with their icing on their fur.    Scooter got a whole lot more than Zippy did.    It also frosted their leashes, my gloves, and my hair, too, I think.

Zippy needs much more attention since he doesn't have his Libby to take care of him.    He gets into things he has never even noticed.   I guess I sure didn't realize how much they took care of each other.    Scooter only allows himself to play once a day whether he needs it or not, so he doesn't help much with the babysitting.     We will just have to make this work until we can get a new playmate for Zippy.

Thank  you to everyone for your kind words.    Somehow this loss is the worst animal loss I have suffered in the 40 plus years I have lived with my furry friends.    All the other times, I knew that I would be losing my dog in the near future.    This shock just knocked me for a loop.    Scooter and Zippy probably don't mind he extra lovin' though.

I know what you mean about the unexpected loss. When I lost Rosie I felt that way; she was sick on Saturday, and we had an incurable diagnosis and put her to sleep on Tuesday night. I felt like I'd been hit with a Mac truck without warning, and it took a good year before I stopped breaking out in tears at every thought of her. And it wasn't until we got Dozer two years later that the wound finally scarred over and was no longer painful. I hope you can find a playmate for Zippy that will similarly help with your healing.

Ah yes, the "baby sitter"! I know just what you mean. Bella plays and plays and PLAYS with Sable! She wears her out for me. She also comes and "tells" me if Sable is doing something wrong! No kidding! She actually tattles on Sable. I've learned that when I'm in on the computer, if Bella comes and nudges my arm, I better get up and see what Sable is into...

I don't know how I'd deal with a rambunctious puppy without Bella's help!

I'm so glad that you've got Scooter and Zippy there to help soothe your broken heart. They certaily won't replace beautiful Libby but they also knew and loved her and can share your pain. And you know that you are still loved...

I am sorry for your loss. I had an African Gray parrot, Logan who contracted Asp. a fungal infection in her lung. Even though we and her vet did everything in our power to save her, she passed. It has been a year now, but not a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her so much. She said the funniest things and made a home in my heart.
I make handmade soap and created a soap I named Logan. All the proceeds from selling this soap go to the ASPC and her vet for their Love Fund.
